At a presentation titled “Music: A Mirror to Our Story”, held by the Eagle Historical Society in Eagle Wisconsin on March 8, 2022, noted music historian Ed Pierce explores how the lyrics of music from the turn of the century through the 1950’s kept rural America connected to national and world events. In addition to the full video, the presentation has been broken down into (7) chapters, covering the first four decades of 20th century America.
Come and share each period as we remember events that were burned into the American psyche, and learn how music shaped American opinion. Sing along with some familiar tunes such as: Come Josephine In My Flying Machine, I Didn’t Raise My Boy To Be a Soldier, Over There, Singin’ in the Rain, God Bless America, I’ll Be Home For Christmas.
The presentation is narrated by Ed Pierce, pianist Lori Heidenreich, and photographer Nancy Campbell. All rights reserved by the Eagle Historical Society, Eagle Wisconsin in Eagle, Wisconsin.
