Ann Meyer was born in Germany in 1921 and emigrated to America with her parents as a child. Her maiden-name was Ann Marie Stibbe. She attended school in Milwaukee and graduated from West Division high school in 1940. Ann married Woodrow Obermeyer in 1944 and they had two children, James and Charles Obermeyer. Woodrow died in 1964.
Ann met Newell Meyer while working in the advertising department at the Milwaukee Journal company. They married in 1970 and bought 80 acres in Eagle Wisconsin in 1976 as a summer retreat. Both enjoyed wildlife and the beauty of nature which fueled their passion for art. Ann enjoyed painting and Newell was a sculptor.
These paintings were donated to the Eagle Historical Society by the Nature Conservancy of Wisconsin and are on display at our Museum.
