Project 22 Ride and Film Event
With Special Guests – Doc King and Daniel Egbert
Friday, September 16th, 2016

Project 22 is a documentary film detailing the story of two veterans Doc King and Daniel Egbert, who launched a 22 day, 6,500 mile cross-country mission to raise awareness of the high rate of suicide among veterans. During their journey they interviewed researchers, healthcare providers, and veterans. Many of those they encountered had either contemplated or attempted suicide and were able to share the life-saving alternative sources of hope that they found. Asking hard-hitting questions and opening up about their own struggles, the veteran filmmakers share their explorations of hopeful solutions to the problem.

1:30pm – If you’re a motorcycle rider, join special guests Doc and Dan on a 22 mile ride through Milwaukee to raise awareness about veteran depression and suicide as well as show support for veterans and the film event ($10 per rider).

4:30pm – For those not riding, join us at the Harley-Davidson Museum for a reception with Doc and Dan. The reception will feature non-traditional resource providers from across the Milwaukee area. Providers will be available for conversations about their work with veterans and readjustment strategies. (Free BBQ dinner)

6:00pm – Film Begins

7:00-7:15pm – Intermission (Free refreshments)

8:00pm – Following the film, Dr Mike McBride from the Milwaukee VA Medical Center will facilitate a panel discussion on the struggles many veterans face after leaving the military as well as successful treatment and resources available in the Milwaukee area. Panel members will consist of Doc King and Daniel Egbert, Milwaukee veterans from Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan, including UWM student veterans, a female combat veteran and military spouse, and the mother of a combat veteran. The audience will have the opportunity to participate in the discussion via comments, questions and remarks. (Free refreshments)

Admission to the event is free. Free parking is available at the Harley-Davidson Museum.
