By 1942, amid the turmoil of the Second World War, countless men and women sent heartfelt Christmas wishes home from war zones in Europe and the South Pacific. Inspired by these brave soldiers and their families, Bing Crosby recorded a new Christmas song: “I’ll Be Home for Christmas.”
The music that motivated our young men & women from Waukesha County to answer the call sometimes led to heartbreaking outcomes. The local newspaper, the Eagle Quill, frequently published letters from these local heroes. One such letter was featured in September 1942. Listen to the rest of the story in our podcast below…
