What would summer in Eagle be without the delightful sounds of the Palmyra-Eagle Community Band at the Eagle Historical Society’s annual Ice Cream Social? This cherished Sunday afternoon event offers free ice cream and homemade cakes, generously donated by EHS members, marking the beginning of the fun.
This year, EHS Board Member and band member Gina Neist, along with retired long-time band director Ed Pierce, kicked off the event. Gina’s husband, Jim Neist, has stepped in as interim bandmaster until a new leader is found. Interestingly, Jim also serves as the Financial Officer for EHS! The band concert was sponsored by Generac Power Systems and held in honor of Ethan Dexheimer, a 23-year-old band member who passed away in 2024. He is missed by all!
The concert, titled “When You Were a Kid,” featured nostalgic tunes that many of the older attendees fondly remember, including “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” and “Casey at Bat”. Enjoy some of the music as you savor your summer!
